Dear Website visitor

After a very good and busy season we enjoyed a little break at Manor on the Bay. We were closed for the month of July though I cannot say that I had much of a break. Lots have happened this side that I'd like to tell you about.
Quite as few renovations were done to the lovely 1862 Manor House. A new bigger bath was put into the Manor / Honeymoon Suite, some of the other bathrooms were re-painted, most of the wooden floors were sanded down and treated and the lightning in all the rooms were replaced with new downligters & dimmers (Book your romantic break now!). Smaller changes like new satin scatter cushions, beautiful wooden hangers etc. were also added to the rooms (Hard to suppress my creative, decorating side).
We're very excited about the new changes and are looking forward to jet another beautiful season at Manor on the Bay - literally on the Bay of peaceful Gordon's Bay.

One thing I realised once again, after driving into Cape Town a few times for building material, was what a prime & central locations we have in Gordon's Bay. 30 Minutes to Stellenbosch, 30 min to Cape Town Airport, 45min to the Waterfront & Table Mountain, 45 min to Hermanus and Franschhoek, 12 golf courses within 45min drive. This is undoubtedly, together with the amazing view, good service, beautiful dog, big garden…. one of Manor on the Bay's big assets.

I've also been very busy with the opening of the new Gordon's Bay Accommodation and Tourism Bureau. I know the name is a mouth full, but watch this space. 4 Locals came together and discussed the big need for such an organisation in Gordon's Bay. Previously we had to make use of the Helderberg Tourism Bureau, which is situated in Somerset West. The Helderberg Bureau is just to far from us to really meet our tourism needs. We opened an office in Beach Road, Old Cape Mall nr 5! We've asked a publication company from Cape Town to help design an official Gordon's Bay Travel map. We're also working on a website to showcase all the lovely restaurants, shops, accommodation establishments etc. Lots of work, but very rewarding. Some of our goals are to host an annual festival / event in Gordon's Bay, market Gordon's Bay as a destination at Indaba, ITB, WTM etc. The GBATB is affiliated with the Helderberg Bureau and falls under the new DMO ( Destination Marketing Organisation ) in Cape Town.

For our return visitors, the team is still unchanged. Kari, the 2 Katriena's & myself. And of course Yuka, the lovely Old English sheepdog!

We all wish you a blessed second half of 2004!
