As a former pianist at Paris National Opera, it is only a pure pleasure for me to introduce you to Cape Town Opera. I know of no other chorus that sings in such a wide variety of languages – from Czech, French and German to Swahili, Xhosa and English – with such power and clarity. The singers are proficient across genres, from opera, musical theatre and sacred music, and their uniquely rich voices are unmatched.

With its varied season of productions at the Artscape Theater Center, the Cape Town Opera is the largest performing arts organization in South Africa, and it is the only opera company in Africa with a year-round program.

Alongside the classics, CTO fosters the expression of a national identity through the creation and performance of new South African works such as Mandela Trilogy, and Tsotsi, The Musical, based on Athol Fugard’s novel. CTO’s calendar offers an exciting repertoire of opera, operetta, and musicals.
